Baingan Bharta – Inspired by the foodie Sachin Tendulkar!
Baingan ka bharta is basically mashed and spiced eggplant. You first roast eggplants on an open flame for a smoky flavor, mash the soft flesh, and then add it to a sauteed and spiced onion and tomato mixture. It goes well with flat breads like naan or roti. While I am not a huge cricket fan (I can only remember too well the many fist fights I lost and the many TV programs I had to sacrifice when a match was on), I always crossed my fingers for an Indian victory and I always believed wholeheartedly that Sachin would be the one to lead us to this victory. Even when the score looked bleak, Sachin was the beacon of hope that burnt in our hearts; as long as he stood at the crease, we still stood a chance; we expected him to do his magic and bail us out, or rather, bat the opposition out. It is impossible not to have faith in the man when you live among a billion fans most of whom would readily lay down their lives for him. And what’s more, I believe my niece is named after Sachin’s daughter
Deep Fried Eggplants
You know what they say; all that glitters is not gold. Take for e.g., Rakhi Sawant. You think the woman looks good, and her jhatkas and matkas are quite entertaining. But the moment you hear her voice, you want to shoot yourself in the ears and fall dead.
The eggplant belongs to the same category. A very pretty vegetable to look at, great shape and colour. But it can be extremely slimy and unappealing in a curry. There is only one way to treat such people and vegetables – and that is the rough way. Deep frying eggplants takes the slime away and improves them a lot. Don’t take my word for it, try it out.

” A psychiatrist visits his patients at a mental institution he newly joined, while his nurse gives him a brief overview about each patient.
Room 1 is occupied by a man, staring out of the window with a sad and faraway look in his eyes. He repeatedly says Priya, as if it were a mantra that tethers him to life. The nurse explains that Priya was his lover, but he was unable to marry her, and this made him incurably crazy.
Room 2 is occupied by a man who is as violent as a mad man could possibly be. The doctor sees him throw things around, yell and shout, and tear at his hair in anguish. The nurse explains, “Now this man here got married to Priya”. ”
