If love had to be represented by a fruit, I think strawberries would do the job really well. For one, they are rarely available. Next, most of the ones you do find are bruised and may even have one or more happy worms within, not something to be happy about unless you are a worm yourself. You hear everyone raving about them, the juiciness, the sweetness, the looks, but when you bite into one, you realize they are just blah. Highly over rated. It reminds me of the days when as a student, I took breaks from school work on festival holidays and looked forward to watching new movies on tv amid the celebrations. But at times, my grand plans were foiled by live cricket telecasts that ALL members of the opposite sex wanted to watch. I can remember only too well the arguments between the cinema loving ladies and the cricket loving guys. Mohanlal or Sachin? A sixer that stuns an entire nation or comedy that has you rolling around laughing uncontrollably? The men usually used their trump card and threatened to leave to my aunt’s house in the neighbourhood to watch the upper cuts and paddle sweeps in peace.
